We’ll spend the morning cleaning up the river and roads followed by an afternoon of unique canoe and kayak races on our beloved Providence Bend. It’s all capped off with an evening of music and the “Charlie Brown Boogie-Down” Dance-off.

You can register for the clean-up at 9 a.m. and we’ll work until 2. We’ll provide life-jackets, gloves, t-shirts and water bottles. Get ready to get muddy and help us clean up the debris the flood left this spring. More info at www.riverrelief.org. Sign-up by firing off an e-mail to Steve at riverrelief@riverrelief.org or call 573.443.0292

The River Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting the second annual Flying Carp Races in the afternoon from 3 – 6 p.m. There will be three separate sprint races.

  • The 2-adult canoe race will be a semi-challenge with up and downstream segments.
  • The 1-person Baja Island Kayak Round-about will be for experienced boaters who crave an upriver battle.
  • Finally, there’ll be a fun 1-adult and 1-kid tandem canoe recycling race.

We’ll have awards for each class, including the coveted Cooper’s Cup. Lifejackets available (child’s jackets limited, bring em if you got em). Bring your own boat. Missouri River Relief will have safety/rescue boats on-site.

Entry fee is $5 per boat. Contact Heidi at heidib@socket.net or call 573.447.1588 with any questions or to pre-register.

The day on the river ends with a blast of great river tunes from local favorites. Naked Dave and Friends (the “house band” for Cooper’s Landing) will start jamming at 6 p.m. They’ll be followed up by the “Charlie Brown Boogie-Down” dance-off featuring the hot tunes of Los Desterrados. Slide on your boogie shoes and come on down for the action!

Parking is limited – carpoolers rule!

See you on the river!
